I know you're Canadian and don't know too much about our constitution or how to use proper English spelling or grammar and you probably don't know how to read too well, eh?, but have you ever heard of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution?
It starts out with "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...". How long were people prohibited from exercising their right to worship or to go to a wedding or a funeral? C'mon man.
