Except that public health crisis has ALWAYS been clearly coded into HIPAA's exemptions.

It's HIPAA, by the way.

We're hardly in a crisis, it's not like this shit can kill you.

darn fingers....

How are they to know your vaccination status without access to your medical records? The vaccination cards are already available on the black market. I personally know of 2 people selling them. It's the vaccine honor system right now, unless they crack open medical records, which violates HIPAA.

Covered entities may use and disclose protected health information without individual Authorization for certain public interest-related activities, including:

- oversight of the healthcare system
- public health, and in emergencies affecting the life or safety
- research
- judicial and administrative proceedings
- law enforcement
- to provide information to next of kin
for identification of the body of the deceased person, or the cause of death
- for facility's (hospital's, etc.) directories
- workmen's compensation
- medical examiner
- in other situations where the use is mandated by law

By my count, the COVID pandemic easily qualifies for at least five of these exemptions.

Airlines don't enjoy oversight of the healthcare system.
The vaccinated can still spread the virus, so knowing who is and isn't vaccinated has no effect.
They won't include me in their research, I have natural immunity. It skews results the wrong direction.
It's not illegal to not have taken the vaccine
You can't enforce a vaccine law - because there isn't one
I'm not dead
I'm not hospitalized
I'm self employed
Again, I'm not dead
Again, there isn't a vaccination law

So none qualify. Thanks!

Well, now's as good a time as any to point out that you're not the arbiter of these decisions, which is just as well.

None of the things you listed give airlines access to medical records.

Well, no, airport security isn't handled by the air crew, is it?
1 up, 3y,

It doesn't say airport security, does it....it says you can't travel. Airport security doesn't handle who boards the plane - they deal with passengers, airport vendors, and employees - so you're now expanding it to affect airport workers jobs too...people who aren't flying.

Well done, Orwellian overreach extended.

What? Have you never been to an airport or something?

I grew up in airports. 1/4 million miles flown by the time I was 12. I currently own and operate a business that services aviation clients...... Yeah, I've been in an airport or two.

Airport security doesn't board passengers, they just watch the doors...and not even all of the doors.

Oh shit - that was one way - I forgot the return trips :) 1/2 million miles flown by the time I was 12.

Why would you buy a black market vaccine card when the vaccine itself is free?

Anyway. In case you missed it. Remember I said that public health crisis HIPAA exemptions?

I'm not getting the vaccine - that's crazy. There's a testing and approval process that takes years, and it's how side effects are identified - none of that has been done for this vaccine.

Besides, I'd rather have natural immunity - it's longer lasting and strengthens my immune system. I already caught and beat this before there was a vaccine, so it's kind of pointless for me anyway.

Buying a vaccine card allows me to participate in things where I would normally be discriminated against. Best of both worlds, immunity with no vaccine - and access.

Yeah, that must be why vaccines go through 7 years of trials....normally...

Actually, if anything, the scandal here is that they usually take so long to develop. The COVID vaccines are a shining example of what can be achieved when the red tape and backlog is cleared.

There were three vaccines that WERE rushed too quickly, but they didn't pass the safety trials, proving that we do still have them. Those companies got nothing for their efforts. So, understand, if you really WERE concerned about this kind of thing, you'd learn more about what actually goes into making sure this is safe; you're being somewhat lazy by sitting on your couch saying "I don't trust any of them and I don't have to do anything because of it"

I don't trust any of them, and I don't need any of them. Don't misquote me.

I'm not sure how you justify the rapid change of direction. While Trump was in office, the MSM and their mindless sycophantic followers screamed from the rooftops that Trump was rushing the vaccine, and that there was no way they'd take it because it didn't go through the normal testing process. The nanosecond Biden takes office, suddenly the vaccine is perfectly safe and BTW - it's Joe who gets the credit for that.

HILARIOUS!

That there were 3 that didn't pass initial testing doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I'm sure a lot of animals are killed when experimental drugs and vaccines are first tested. Theoretical drugs often have theoretical benefits - it's when the theory is put into practice that the true benefits (or costs) are determined.

Personally, I'm against many vaccines. The influenza vaccine, for example, weakens our immune systems. In my social circles, I have friends who have never had one, friends who had them and stopped taking them at some point (myself included), and friends who still take them. It's very curious that those who have never had one - they never catch the flu. Those of us who stopped taking them at some point - depending on the length of time since our last flu shot, we have lower rates the longer we have gone without it. Those who take the flu shot, they catch it almost every year.

Certain vaccines, it makes sense. Polio, MMR, Tetanus, Hep A&B - sure. Those vaccines have a long track record of success with side effects being rare.

I took the flu vaccine when I was working with vulnerable populations and I never noticed any problems with my immune system. You probably picked that up from a misleading or misinformed source.

It's misinformed to observe that the people I know, who have never had a flu shot, never catch the flu? My observation is misinformed? Did you not even read what I wrote?

I haven't caught the flu in almost 20 years. about 25 years ago was my last flu shot. My 80 year old mom stopped taking the flu shot 10 years ago, and last caught the flu 3 years ago.

Friends of mine who regularly get the flu shot, also regularly catch the flu.

Do you see the pattern here? Are you capable of seeing past your own blind trust in a system that uses humans as lab rats?

Oh, then if your source is purely anecdotal then it's DEFINITELY not good research.
