so a long time ago, my parents bought a huge box of candy canes without me knowing and then put them on a really high shelf so I couldn’t get to them (little did they know that not only did i know about them, but i knew how to use the stepladder to get up there). Then they forgot about the candy canes 6 months later. So whenever they would punish me by not giving me candy, I would sneak into the candy canes later and reward myself. This went on for about 2 years.
