IN ALL SERIOUSNESS -- I'm a lawyer and on Quora I actively discourage people considering going to law school, because the field has been massively overloaded for generations and continues to get worse.
One of the things I point out is that when you add 3 years of lost income + $100K IN STUDENT LOANS JUST for LAW school, just LAW school costs about a QUARTER MILLION dollars.
I ALSO point out that IN THE U.S. STUDENT LOAN debt is NOT DISCHARGEABLE IN BANKRUPTCY, EITHER for the STUDENT *OR* for CO-SIGNERS, and the ONLY options are:
1) PAY IT
2) LEAVE the country PERMANENTLY, -- or --
3) **DIE**.
(Also, for MOST lawyers income isn't anywhere near what the general public thinks--so it's NOT a case of, "Yeah, you have student loans, but with a LAWYER'S income you can afford it." I went to school at night and graduated 40 years ago, so MY loan debt wasn't bad.)
