One day space tourism is going to be a thriving enterprise, likely entirely eco-friendly if not mostly. Like it or not, people like Branson are the pioneers in a new market and you can't do something perfectly at first swing.
Remember, cars were mocked and derided when they first started appearing. They were noisy, smelly, rickety, expensive, and had no place in common society...until they weren't. Hard to imagine life without automobiles now, isn't it?
Give it a few decades and I bet we'll be singing a different tune about commercial spaceflight.
