What ever happened to informed consent? Fully informed consent! There seem to be many unanswered questions regarding an experimental type of vaccine that has not been fully approved. It’s also a matter of individual risk of dying. Each individual has the right to make one’s own decision.

IT'S A
PERSONAL
DECISION,
TONY. THAT AFFECTS EVERYONE, RAND. | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
why, informed consent is still with us, my dumpling, but it's on you to get informed. the manufacturers haven't been shy about the ingredients of the vaccine. it's all online and they give you a fact sheet when you show up for the shots. the cdc hasn't been shy about providing data on effectiveness and side effects. that's all online too. what questions do you have? you must realize that with *any* vaccine, they can't tell you about all effects in the general population until it's been administered to many people, but they now have a lot of data. the risks are very low, and much lower than the chance of death by covid even for healthy people.

no one is stopping you from making your individual decision, are they? but recognize that when you decide not to take a vaccine during an ongoing pandemic, you and the other millions of such people are becoming partly responsible for the accelerating caseload and increasing death toll. with great rights comes great responsibility.

In the past, an “Emergency Use Authorization” (EUA) would only be for a limited period and only for use in section of the population who is most vulnerable to a disease. But the current EUA regime is being allowed to run indefinitely and for any “top-up vaccines” and is being used to try and vaccination the entire population – regardless of who is health or sick, or at risk or not.

If you want to blame anyone, it should be the man who said gain of function research leaking out of a lab is worth the risk of a pandemic, it seems to be gain of function research conducted at Wuhan Institute of Virology was funded by Fauci’s NIAID/NIH through EcoHeakth Alliance. Fauci got both.

There are a lot of claims by right-wing media that Fauci funded gain-of-function research. I don't see any evidence of it.

Right-wing media also have a habit of taking short, misleading excerpts from their sources to make their case seem stronger. Here's a longer excerpt from Fauci's 2012 paper on gain-of-function research. Clearly he did not say that a leak was worth the risk of a pandemic. He said gain-of-function work and the resulting knowledge was, in his opinion, worth the inherent risks:

"“In an unlikely but conceivable turn of events, what if [a gain-of-function] scientist becomes infected with the virus, which leads to an outbreak and ultimately triggers a pandemic?” he wrote. “Many ask reasonable questions: given the possibility of such a scenario – however remote – should the initial experiments have been performed and/or published in the first place, and what were the processes involved in this decision?

“Scientists working in this field might say – as indeed I have said – that the benefits of such experiments and the resulting knowledge outweigh the risks.

“It is more likely that a pandemic would occur in nature, and the need to stay ahead of such a threat is a primary reason for performing an experiment that might appear to be risky.”

“Within the research community, many have expressed concern that important research progress could come to a halt just because of the fear that someone, somewhere, might attempt to replicate these experiments sloppily. This is a valid concern.”

Your team wants to cast Fauci as a villain but the fact is that he's working to save everyone's asses despite efforts to the contrary by Trump and, sadly, millions of misled Americans like yourself.

Fauci said in January, 2020, that this was not something Americans needed to be worried about.

well in January 2020, there were extremely few cases in the US and he thought Trump would do the right thing.

Fauci was wrong about the virus- some expert he turned out to be. Trump did what he recommended.

i know you need a scapegoat to let Trump and yourself off the hook, but how about this: admit responsibility and do something right for a change.

Trump said he did what was recommended. That's not the same thing. And now here's you with your non-degree in medicine or virology or epidemiology, or any science I expect, telling me who the expert is.

Fauci and Birx took pandemic models to Trump showing millions of people could die. It was the graph with 15 days to slow the soread, which turned into 30 days, which turned into months. Travel was shut down, business was shut down. Social distancing became the “new normal”. Those outlandish death numbers didn’t materialize. Fauci then said “models are not reliable “

you don't blame Trump and you don't blame your fellow Conservatives. everyone knows that. 15 days was argued under the idea of effective contact tracing and a lockdown that was never ordered and masking and distancing that so many people ignored. you blame Fauci for people's unwillingness to do what was needed. Conservatives now refuse to take the vaccine and who will they blame for the consequences? not themselves.

here is what puzzles me. you have a mind. it works. you can string ideas together and you express them clearly in words. but you don't see the pile of lies and half-truths and misleading statements that's been shoveled at you continuously and that you shovel at others in turn, although good contrary data is available at your fingertips. you know that politicians in general are liars. you recognize the bias in left-wing media outlets but not your own. it's just weird. everyone had access to videos of Trump and Fauci from the start. you must know what an idiot sounds like, what a liar sounds like. don't you?

i admit i was surprised that so many people were conned by Trump in 2016. not amazed tho since i'm used to some really smart people making bad decisions from good evidence. but what this whole messy, ugly 5 years seems to say is that a **lot** of people can't tell good evidence from bad, can't tell truth from lies, can't recognize their own biases and change their opinions based on daily fresh evidence. i thought more people could do that. yes, i think Trump got more votes than Hillary, and yes, millions of people changed their minds between then and 2020. but many many people didn't. it's depressing.

reasoning hasn't worked at all. people just stick to their positions. team seems to be more important than being right. in that sense, i think i have to give up and you win.
