Until the statisticians can be convinced to cease mixing numbers of infected with numbers of those that have died, we will never know the real fatality rate of COVID, and I would suspect that is entirely intentional, as was mixing the numbers of flu/pneumonia deaths with those of COVID previously. As for the assertion that the vaccinated are less likely to die or require hospitalization, that can only be determined for sure and certain when the actual fatality rate of COVID is known.
