Meh. Coal is on its way out in the U.S and there's no reason to torch lots of good jobs by ending it early. The environmental situation isn't going to be radically impacted if the shutdown of U.S coal occurs now or within ten years.
Coal is dying (Thank God!) because even the energy companies understand how bad it is, but that isn't going to stop a few very rich families from trying to squeeze every last dime for it first.
