Touchstone Pictures is actually part of Disney. When Touchstone Pictures was created in 1984, its goal was to create movies rated PG and above without damaging the Disney brand. The strategy might have worked if Disney had done a.better job of keeping its connection with Touchstone Pictures a secret.
Some of the first theatrical trailers for The Nightmare Before Christmas began with the Walt Disney Pictures logo. When Disney CEO Michael Eisner saw the finished film, he ordered it to be released under the Touchstone Pictures label.
