There is no argument. If you want to get it, get it. If you don't, don't. We are heading toward a real argument if the government says you must. Otherwise, personal challenges will arise...my employer says I must get it; I can't go on a cruise unless I get it; My college says I must get it. Each of those are challenges each individual must decide how to deal with.

Right. No one is pushing government vaccine mandates. Even in the midst of the most acute public health emergency in a century, it’s understood Americans won’t abide that, especially the ones who are actually inclined to not take it. Ergo, a mandate would do nothing but stigmatize the vaccine further among the vaccine-skeptical.

But as you point out, private employers and businesses are free to set their own guidelines on vaccines just as they did before with face masks and distancing (some places set bare minimums, but nothing prevented them from going above and beyond what their local regulations required).

And that's entirely fair. When my employer and any establishment I patronized required masks I wore them with no complaints (to them, at least, ;).

If my employer requires I get vaccinated, I'll either get the jab or find a new job (not decided yet). If it means I can't travel abroad (or to New York, lol) then I'll make a decision then. Expecting any more or less really isn't fair.

personal challenge is already there for everyone. if you don't want to be responsible for other people dying, you must get it.

All the reopenings have me really concerned because they're saying if you got the vaccine you don't have to wear a mask. This poses two serious problems: 1 - you can still catch the corona and spread it if you got the vaccine so masks and social distancing should still be mandatory, 2 - there's no way to tell who's vaccinated anyway so everyone should still mask up.

i agree. i think the CDC didn't think that thru very well. also, having unvaccinated people going about without masks will hardly encourage the unvaccinated to wear them ) :

No in fact as soon as the mandate was lifted all the anti-vaxxers celebrated and tossed their masks in the garbage. It's futile this way. And big surprise, numbers are up.
