I have seen this before. To gain power and prestige, you just have to be louder and more “pure” than those you wish to displace. Any hint of weakness, in this case Fox actually reporting a negative story about Trump’s chances, will be shouted by the newcomers as proof they are right and the old power is wrong. It attracts those that seek to prove they are right by ignoring any evidence that they are not. It leads to a dark place and a I hope we don’t get there.
