It means “All men are created equal.” Thomas Jefferson wrote a condemnation of slavery in the Declaration of Independence (despite being a slave owner himself) but it was removed to avoid offending the southern states or causing the southern states to secede leave the Union or help the British. This later happened in the Civil War when Abraham Lincoln was elected, he made speeches against slavery and was only going to pass laws to prevent its expansion and hope slavery would eventually die out. But then the war happened and he later made the cause to free all slaves in the South as well as preservation of the Union so none of the European powers would intervene and join the confederates side. The Declaration of Independence is racist because they probably meant that only all white men are created equal.
