Those are ALL paid for by state, county and/or city taxes. The ONLY roads that the Federal government has any involvement with are the interstate highways. And even those are paid for mostly by the states the highway passes through.

I am sure there are a ton of slick politicians at the Federal level who have managed to get Federal tax dollars spent on their local projects. That happens all of the time.

But let me ask you. If I live in West Virginia then why should I be forced to pay for a bridge in Oregon? If I live in Hawaii then what should I be forced to pay for a hospital in Vermont? What benefit do I get out of that. This is why everything on your list is handled at the local level. You pay taxes for your local fire department to put out a fire on your house. You do not pay taxes to put out a fire on someone's house in Louisiana when your house is in South Dakota. The fire department in Louisiana would have a very tough time making it to your house in South Dakota before it burned to the ground.

Is that my "fair share"? Is their ANY fairness to take by force the money that I worked for? And since when do I owe a "share" of anything I worked for? That is not how America was founded.

This all changed when the Progressives (aka socialists, Nazis, fascists and communists) got into political power in the early 20th Century. The first Progressive president was Theodore Roosevelt and he was the first president to take over millions of acres of land that did not belong to the federal government and call that land National Parks. Then there was the evil and vile Woodrow Wilson who forced the income tax on us, promising that the tax rate would never go over 7%. When he left office the tax rate on the wealthiest was up around 75%. Of course the left will always say, "they can afford it". But who's money is it? Why should a greedy, out of control, government steal that money and waste it on idiot stuff? What gives the government to steal our money. A thief does exactly the same thing and he goes to prison. Is the government somehow better than the individual?

Private businesses can and do furnish all of the above in your list at a much lower cost and at a higher quality.

I was speaking about taxes in general (from every source), not merely those accrued by the Feds.

Since it's the latter you seem to have the biggest grievance with, I'm curious how you feel about defunding the military, homeland security, veteran affairs, medical research, medicade/medicare, eliminating social security pension plans, getting rid of unemployment insurance, etc, etc, etc, because that's where those funds predominately flow to, in addition to partially funding education and infrastructure.
