Illinois isn't even in the top half for gun crime per capita. It's below the national average.

Gun crime per capita is higher in three of the five states next to Illinois - Missouri, Indiana, and Kentucky. Something about those three states have something in common that Illinois doesn't - can't put my finger on it...
