Odd, yes. Abimelech must have been very young at first in meeting Abram and Sarai before meeting Isaac and Rebekah. It is sad to recall that the same sin committed by Abraham was done by his own son. This is clear example of a generational sin.
And sadder still that the king's people would later become one of Israel's most frequent and vicious enemy.
