That would seem to be unconstitutional in the same way that the fugitive slave acts from the Missouri compromise (besides denying a bunch of people their basic rights to freedom. It was just the only example I could think of). It would make average citizens enforcers of the law against their will. In the fugitive slave act, citizens could be punished for not turning in slaves they found. If there was a mandatory licence check at drive thrus, that implies that people who don't check for it may be punished

On the other hand, that line of reasoning challenges the idea that alcohol need to see an ID before giving you alcohol. I don't know where the legality of that came from, but i believe everyone agrees that that is important. So in the end, i have no clue

I suppose you could argue that if you just forgot it, even for just going to the drive-thru, you could be fined for not having it. But that’s basically the case for driving in the first place. You should have your license wherever you drive.
