according to the Cannon side of things, when Ink destroyed his soul, he was left in a white empty void for a very very long time. he was emotionless the entire time, and after said very very long time, a lone-paintbrush fell into the void, Ink noticed this and started drawing. that's how The Doodlesphere came to be.
