Somebody explain this to me like I'm 5 years old please... I'm missing something here

Liberals upset that state legislation that aims to preempt federal gun laws that would erode 2nd amendment protection.

It is similar to cities and states creating sanctuary cities by choosing not to enforce federal immigration laws and/or cooperate with federal enforcement of immigration laws.
