Is it that or is James Wan getting too powerful?

No most of them are just scary lady jumps out at screen and makes funny noise but M. Night Shyamalan makes REALLY Scary movies

I will say tho, I just watched Conjuring 3 about two days ago, and it was awesome.

Idk why people are complaining that the movie has too much story in it, because most of those movies are crafted with scary moments with only the flimsiest of plot (like the first Conjuring movie). This movie actually has a decent, well-drawn plot. I won’t go into spoilers, but I will say it doesn’t use any haunted house tropes, any spiritual detectors, or any set-up for a stupid spin-off.

I just watched the Conjuring a couple nights ago. I was told it was a bold and new radical take on the horror genre… but it was basically just a worse version of Insidious except it spent more time setting up other movies rather than building its own story. Every single scary part was literally in the trailer, so I knew exactly what was going to happen. I really wanted to love it!

I’m still going watch the 2nd and 3rd one. I’m looking forward to the 3rd one since James Wan isn’t a writer for it. I’m sorry, but his strength is camera work; not story. I have no interest in watching Annabelle, The Nun, or La Llorrona.

So are horror movies just not scary anymore? Or are some of them just being overhyped? Are the actually creepy ones being drowned out by James Wan?

I heard Grave Encounters was creepy as well as Hush, Rec, and Lights Out. I’m looking forward to watching those.

I still love Insidious by the way. That movie is great. A lot scarier than the Conjuring.
