Well, that's a good question. Per the text of the meme, if that is a fact and that fact is taught, then that essentially fills the "Real history" criteria. The question is, what will they be omitting in their history?
Apparently 1836 was the year Texas split from Mexico.
So choosing that date is also suggestive of a certain view of Texas history that regards Mexico as an adversary

I mostly asked purely because I was curious if that was a policy encouraged by the Mexicans (which I highly doubt, given they were mostly Catholic and almost certainly opposed slavery, though I make this statement conjecturally and without fact-checking it) or a bid to attract Protestant, pro-U.S immigrants to swell support for the movement to separate from Mexico.
Most interesting. My reading queue is full, at the moment (with Star Wars novels, of all things), but I'm making a note to find a good book on the political environment at the time in Mexico and how religion affected Mexican attitudes towards slavery. It'll probably be highly interesting.
