I did it by promising to heal and bring the country together. I have even higher approval ratings now than the share of votes that I won in that election. The For the People Act is my priority. It aims to secure a foundational right, the very one that was brutally attacked on Jan. 6. The Act is not only supported but co-sponsored by 49 of your colleagues, who combined represent a thumping majority of the American population. If it’s “partisan legislation,” as you've called it, then the lock-step partisan obstruction of the other Party is the main reason. It’s something to think about, Joe. If that is his goal, it’s a noble one. But:

1. After Jan. 6, arguably, the cold Civil War is already a hot one.
2. What if a Republican wins the White House in a narrow Electoral College victory and popular vote blowout, assisted by voter suppression in Republican-controlled purple states? Will the Left stand for it?

Everyone’s focused on Republican violence and placating the Right at the moment, but let’s not forget the Left has a stake in this, too.
