Picard a bit confuddled

We spend every day of our lives in a culture built by Christians. We are constantly being gaslighted about how great it is. Look at the door to door proselytizing meme that I started the thread with. In another stream some Jesus loving snowflake reported it as harassment & it was unfeatured. They get to say crap like we're going to hell--but just try pointing out to them that their religion is widespread because of the violence they used! This is a place where dissent & honest criticism is allowed.

i get that. but your next meme says 'if you want me to respect your beliefs, you must do the same'. the JWs believe that part of their mission is to 'save souls' and recruit. so how do we decide what is fodder for criticism and what should be respected? the refuge part i like, of course. i think one has to be very careful about disrespect.

No matter what I say, as long as I'm disagreeing with Christians, some of them will call me disrespectful.

ok but i like to see that as their problem. i know some Christians, very good friends, that i don't agree with but i'd never disrespect their religion. we can't let bad apples make us blame their religion. yes, Christianity has been the battle cry leading to great atrocities. but that was not the choice of all Christians (or substitute many religions here, of course).

aight, this ain't my fight by any means if its a fight at all. But we must understand that a Christian is one that honors everything in the bible right? The bible says a LOT of horrible things, oppressing things. So why should we respect them? their religion is hurting people therefor it shouldn't be respected.

not my fight either, but my Christian friends don't honor everything in the bible. i respect them because their *intent* is respectable. i'm an agnostic and to me it's just a book.
