There's no option for, "Respectfully oppose LGBTQ+ sexual practices but agree everyone deserves equal civil liberties" option?

C'mon man, I'm feeling left out.

If you can really keep your politics separate from your personal feelings on the matter, that’s fine, I suppose

But as you suggest, I don’t think it’s a very common thing that people can do. Homophobic policy ultimately derived from subjective homophobic feelings

Here's my stance on the matter (credit to KateTheGreat for the image).

Equal civil liberties for all, with the recognition that we can disagree and get along just fine regardless. That's the Catholic view, anyways.

I am a fiscal conservative (not a social conservative) who supports almost all of Trump's policies. I am not against homosexuality. The solution for you my friend it to go out into the world & meet more Republicans.

Not all Republicans are homophobes (or transphobes), but homophobia and transphobia are concentrated in the Republican Party. And from state to state they pass as many laws as they can to enact those ideas. Those laws can only be smacked down, if at all, by a federal bench and a Supreme Court that are themselves increasingly Republican.

All of that is fair to point out and criticize.

I would agree that very devout Christian conservatives can often be against homosexuality, but the Republican Party is making great progress. According to a Pew Research study, 53 percent of Republicans support homosexuality. I don't have stats on what percent it was decades ago, but I know that it was much less (even for Democrats). And, yeah, it is fair to criticize completely. I just want the Democratic Party to not generalize. Generalization is the biggest weapon in politics.

Aye fair enough — but Democrats will not allow LGBTQ progress or acceptance to be rolled back. There’s no compromising on it from our perspective — it’s a question of basic human rights.

There is no religious exemption anymore than there is or was ever a religious exemption for hating or enslaving black people. It doesn’t compute.

I agree completely! Those are examples of hate without valid logic.
