Early American politics were much different than they are today. You had the Republicans (classical liberals - meaning liberal rights, less government control), and you had the Democrats (conservatives, true). That only goes to illustrate exactly how far the left has strayed from their original convictions.

Originally it was two parties arguing about how best to preserve freedoms, and has devolved into one party preserving rights and another taking them away. Now, before you attempt to say "we aren't taking any rights away" - ask yourself the last time a conservative was silenced vs a liberal. Cancel culture - totally a liberal concept. When a conservative doesn't like you or your political views - he doesn't interact with you. When a liberal doesn't like what you have to say, you must be silenced, you must lose your job, you must lose your house, you kids can't go to school, your bank must close your accounts.....

You can stop trying to point out how superior you are. It doesn't work on anyone who knows any history.
