Unions have repeatedly gone on strike during times of war in order to extort companies out of more money while the grunt, the man with his ass in the grass was paid an aggregate sum of about $125 a month (average pay for a private, from the early 1800's up to the Vietnam War, adjusted for inflation. Only recently has the pay gone up to around $1500-1600 for a private).
