Well the thing is, there are already tons of ways to get points on Imgflip. And also, people might take advantage of this feature.

Like, what if they create a template on their main account but then use an alt to caption the template over and over again so that the main accounts gets points?

To the earlier comment, I worded it weirdly. I mean, the person who created the template should only get roughly 10-20 points per caption.
