Oh...... I see what I did wrong.... It was a spelling error. I hadn't noticed that in you previous comments. Sorry about that. "Hoplophobic" is the word I should have used. Yes it is a fear of armaments of any kind. I am unaware of any word that describes specifically a fear of firearms. But in today's age the most common armament is a firearm or knife. There's not too many swords, battle axes, maces, trebuchets, catapults, etc being used for anything these days.
I suppose that most anything that you can kill someone with could be called an armament, including your car, baseball bat, fist, foot, hammer, rock, and so on.
Also a phobia is not just a fear but an irrational fear and that is exactly how I mean it when I used that word (even if it was misspelled). Many on the left have an irrational fear of firearms. Their biggest fear they are trained to have is of the so-called "assault" weapons. Even though "assault" is a verb, not an adjective. In the list of things people use to commit murder, rifles (of any kind) is way down on the list. Knives, fists and feet are way above rifles on the list of the most commonly used weapon. Handguns are either at the top or near the top of the list.
It should also be known that all firearms are used 2.5 times more to prevent a crime than to commit a crime. And that is just the cases that were reported to the police. Most of the time if a person just brandishes a gun the would-be criminal runs away and nothing is ever reported.
So all of the complaints about firearms coming from the left are bogus at best and dangerous at worst because they only seek to punish the law abiding.
