Basic Editing Capability for Comments

just Copy your comment, then delete it and repost with corrections

I have done that, but editing capability would be better. Especially where a comment has gotten feedbacks of some kind (replies or upvotes).

well editing after could be confusing to other commenters. if the error is something that subverts the meaning of what you intended to say, you could leave the original comment and just clarify

People will be editing their comments to hide the stupid things they say. Threads will lose contextual cohesion because a statement made at the beginning will have been removed to save embarrassment - making the rest of the thread pointless.

Let people delete their comments - if there are replies, there will remain a scar to prove the comment existed.

Good input. On DeviantArt, it not only shows that a comment was edited but also the time elapsed since the most recent edit.

Well, someone could comment on a meme, “I love this!” and get tons of upvotes and replies saying “Me too!” And then they can edit it to “I hate this.” and well, you know...
