History is a difficult concept for those opposed to the passage of time.

I remember being young and dumb and seeing a bumper sticker that had a confederate flag that said "heritage not hate". And I remember thinking, wow that's cool. << I said young and dumb right?

I think a lot of people who fly the flag genuinely don't think of it as racist. They, like me, grew up with the Dukes of Hazzard and with it just being on everything. Why would anyone be offended by that?

I now try to imagine what it would be like to be a Jew and people flying a Swastika and telling me not to worry because its about "pride, not genocide".

Great point. it's okay if you didn't know that it was racist, but then still actively flying it while knowing it's history is another thing.

I learned this distinction a few months ago on r/historymemes and found it very intriguing. Now I enjoy quizzing all who claim it represents their heritage. The ONLY POSSIBLE non-dixiecrat-supporting answer, as this meme notes, is if their ancestor(s) served in some naval capacity. Everything else is complete BS, since battle flags (the proper Stars and Bars) are square and the Stainless/Bloodstained banners are clearly different than the rectangular Stars and Bars.

It's irrelevant really, since my man Sherman burned 'em all anyways. LOL
