at the start of the schoolyear, i realised since i was at home i could do whatever i want. so i joined imgflip cuz school=boring. so when i first joined i would barely be on. checking my notifs or posting every hour or so. then i got caught up in some streams. then i started to make friends. this was also around the time that my grades took a big hit and my parents noticed. i kept it a secret that i wasnt doing my work and i lied to them many times in order to stay on imgflip and keep my friends. and these friends could only be on during school so ye. if they were on after school on another site, i would leave imgflip forever. i really love these friends. they truly understand me. especially my gf. but, my grades are slipping again and ive been getting in trouble lately and ive stopped focusing on school again. and this isnt all about school. when i first joined MSMG, i would stop playing with friends, stop going on discord, stop watching sports, stop playing on my xbox, just to be on imgflip more. now, it has to go. i will miss my friends, but i have to go. tomorrow is 8 months since i joined, so its a perfect day to delete

It’s a tough decision but I understand. You’re not the first to make this difficult choice. Yes, as you point out this site is addictive — fun and gratifying at times, and a way to explore your own creativity and be a part of promoting others’ — but addictive nonetheless. I decided myself to leave about this time last year, but I came back. I can’t say it was the wrong choice. I’ve had a lot of fun, but I’ve also wrestled with these feelings as well.

Whatever you decide, always put your own needs first. Listen to your heart and it won’t steer you wrong.
