I don't doubt that protests have costs. And it has been well documented that right-wingers like the Boogaloo Boi who was just convicted of arson in the burning down of Precinct 3 in Minneapolis, caused much of the destruction. Boogaloo Boi Steve Carillo was arrested for the deaths of multiple police in Oakland he tried to implicate BLM for. But, $2-billion? USA Today reported on damages reported in Minneapolis and Portland, the two cities most impacted. Here is what they said, "city officials in Minneapolis estimated that at least 220 buildings had been damaged in protests, resulting in a minimum of $55 million in costs. And in July, authorities in Portland estimated that businesses had lost about $23 million in damages and business."
The costs of damage done by individuals not associated with BLM will probably run higher than the above estimates. But, they will not come anywhere close to $2-billion. And, no political leader of the stature of a sitting president egged BLM to "fight," as Trump did prior to the treasonous riots of his followers.
