First off, I don't believe I've ever given away my age, sex, gender, or any other biometric information here, so whatever assumptions you've made on that realm are likely wrong at least in part and probably in full.

Secondly, I'm not particularly bothered by your continual condescension and blithely idiotic assumptions about a plethora of matters here, but be warned it's not exactly becoming for your image here. Maybe you don't care about that, I dunno. Just giving you a heads up.

first off, the "lad (or lass)" was just to cover all bases. i haven't made any assumptions about your age, sex, or gender other than to assume by your comments that you're probably younger than me. why so sensitive?

secondly, if you're not particularly bothered by my "continual condescension and blitely idiotic assumptions", i suppose you're calling them that just to be accurate? well, i do admit it's hard not to let slip my opinion of people who, as a group, are so rude, frequently themselves misassumptive, and (in many cases), trying to be condescending, as you seem to be trying for here. blame your culture for that.

and no, i've never been one to worry about my image. my thinking is this: people will react to you with more trust and honesty if you let them know where you stand. also, to any extent that anyone's opinion or attitude is off, i too believe that plain statements are called for. so i respect you for that.

I'm sure you're aware that people on the internet often use 'kid' as a term of belittlement to score cheap feal-good points in an argument, so there was no reason for me to assume you were not doing otherwise, given your already-snarky tone. Age doesn't need to be a serious factor given we're nothing but opposing boxes of text.

I'm not bothered by it because I don't need random users on the internet to validate any of my beliefs or values. I'm calling you out because it's still childish and indicative of a desire to merely vent at people you oppose rather than hold constructive dialogue, and as long as I'm on here checking my notifications I may as well respond in kind.

That's entirely fair. You lose a lot of nuance that can be injected into verbal conversations, so that approach can be interpreted as excessively acerbic, but honesty is always the best policy.
