I was young and wanted a pet fish, by the time we got to the register we realized there was no air in the bag for the fish and it died in my hands.

I finally convinced the cutest girl in my social circle to date me. After the 2nd date, I got home to a bunch of messages from her on my answering machine about how much of a jerk I was.

It turns out that someone in the circle was jealous of me dating her, and convinced her that I was talking some kind of trash about her - and that was it. I finally got to talk to her again after 10 years or so and give my side of the story....which wasn't much - I got home from our date and everything had fallen apart..... Anyway, jealousy is a destructive force.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet with that one, since she didn’t communicate with you & listened to gossip.
