Homophobes are bad

What if the homophobe is a good person? (I'm just saying because I am friends with a homophobe and that's the only bad thing about her)

Then they are not a good person, and try to show the homophobe the error of their ways.

Now, if he's just someone that is technically a homophobic but not in a hateful way and doesn't insult others for their choice, does that make them a bad person? Even if it's part of their belief?
