In fact both items will hit the ground at the same time. It goes against our experience here on Earth, but one of the Apollo astronauts demonstrated this experiment for cameras during one of the moon landings. On Earth, gravity acts on both the hammer and the feather, but of course the feather falls much more slowly. That is because of wind resistance in the air...but remember on the Moon, there is no air or wind. The ONLY force acting on the falling items is gravity. Therefore, they both fall at the same rate of speed, and hit the ground at the same time. 🙂
