As a general rule, I would caution against believing something to be true (even if you really want it to be true... which is sort of sick, if you think about it) until the evidence is in.
Besides, as I always say when moral failings are involved, those who fail do not do so because of their political affiliation. They fail because humans fail. These failures are not because a person is liberal/conservative, nor republican/democrat. Political affiliation is irrelevant when it comes to this.
And before anyone here in politicsTOO attempts to misinterpret what that means, I'm not saying human failings should be tolerated, nor accepted. Particularly when the helpless in our society (e.g. children) are the victims.
