Argument for removing the minimum requirement:
We already have to manually approve all images to the stream, so if an alt (like WhiteNat) were to try and post something harmful, we can just as easily disapprove it and we don't need the minimum requirement for help. It doesn't affect comments either, so that would be kept the same.
I don't like the idea of this being some sort of exclusive club or anything either, because there are new users out there who are legit that would like to participate in the stream but can't.

Argument for keeping the minimum requirement:
It gets rid of the option that any of us mods could be mistaken, and would help to eliminate us squabbling over whether or not the user in question is an alt and is being harmful.
On the other hand, that's sort of already happened with comments from users like these and from users that DO actually meet the minimum requirements, so it's not like this is exactly stopping anything that isn't already happening.

So after writing that out, I'm leaning toward getting rid of the minimum requirement checkbox, but lemme hear what you think.

The problem with this is WN isn't the only problem. And impostors under og's names, that makes us insecure. So we need to keep it.

We should give new accounts at least a month so it's more clear of they are legit. It won't catch everyone, but a month vs nothing gives us more time to watch for them to slip up before they've done any damage here.

Also, this was a law passed by congress, so wouldn't a repeal have to go through congress?

Either way is fine to me

Grandpa, where did the 10k rule come from? | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
I've been thinking about this since I first saw your meme. The no_noobs (10k) posting rule goes back to the early days of streams. Back then they were called Meme Streams, because you could only post images with the meme generator (no gifs, etc.).

imgflip.com/i/l5jxq

The way comments in Meme Streams worked, they never showed on a users profile. There was some crazy stuff going on in the shadows and the underground world of Meme Streams.

When the fun stream was first split, there was a short lived glitch where comments behaved like the Meme Streams, not visible on profiles.

I think 10k rule is outdated and doesn't serve the original purpose, which may have been to control image spamming from new accounts in Meme Streams.

Since you have a limit on submissions, I think the 10k rule is not really useful for what's going on here in this stream today.

Kinda related but I think falsely accusing people of alting to further your campaign (or dismantle others) should warrant some kind of punishment.
2 ups, 4y
Temporary get rid of it so new accounts can run if they want.
I like the rule, but a couple of newer accounts want to run for office and it's a meme website. So making memes is kinda what people wanna do.
As for the elephant in the room: make REALLY SURE none of the mods on here are gonna approve a bunch of stuff from the usual suspects, should they decide to post from 'unique' accounts...

Did you decide on this?
1 up, 4y
Yeah, I'm in favor of getting rid of it. Since it was Congress that made the law I'm going to take it through there. Hopefully it'll be gone by this saturday

The law was passed in order to keep trolls and alts from posting in the stream and taking positions of power the only person besides "Oh_Canda" to benefit from the removal of the law would be WhiteNat and you wouldn't want that would you?

Sounds like you didn't read the arguments for keeping or removing.

He doesn't have the power unless he declares Congress and the president as useless positions which would basically make it the Imgflip Dictatorship stream.

Lol. Captain_Scar deciding his opinion on an issue ≠ (does not equal) dictatorship.

An opinion is one thing, overriding law that Congress, the president, and he originally approved of is a dictatorship. If you don't have respect for the stream and the system then leave with your little friend lmao.

Andrew, maybe you are missing the point (intentionally, I might add). But this last term, Congress voted in favor of passing a law to tighten the restrictions on the stream for this term to protect the stream from alts. While we can't do anything to stop WN from vandalizing the stream with drive-by comments, at least it stops him from grooming us with his solicitations and memes meant to stalk us. Some of the mods that visit here don't have the time to track the drama so they normally would approve his memes without checking in first. Harder for him to do that if new accounts can't spam us with memes from his alts. You are lobbying Captain_Scar to override the will of Congress and the people by simply dismissing it on a whim, like a king, yes, a dictator. This would upset our current head of Congress who made it clear he is against this. We get you don't care, but in this roleplay that would be cheating and leveraging your mod position to manipulate and pressure Captain_Scar into serving your agenda is downright abuse. We are kids here. You are an adult. Stop trying to creep into our stream. We can all see WN begging you almost daily into getting that restriction removed. This stream isn't some fire test for your libertarian values. Congress has already spoken. Maybe if you and Tommy win the next election, you can pass a new law and run the mock government of this stream differently. For now, stop trying to cheat.

"Someone" WhiteNat is not someone he's a banned user (countless times by now) helping him might get you in trouble, just saying. Rather amusing you claim to follow this script imgflip.com/terms when you see it as more as a guideline. I find it rather comedic that I respect the TOS more than the community mods do.

Even if you can't post you'll still be able to have campaign ads.
After all, SurlyKong makes campaign ads for everyone that runs.

The thing I don't understand is why people act like having a 1-month-old account and 10,000 points is hard. It's really not.
I mean, Goatfire managed to get thousands of points on one meme that took him two minutes to make back when he was a nobody.
