the problem is lying about what was done in the name of patriotism, not doing good things for patriotism. an example is innovation, care for environment for patriotic reasons. or fighting hitler in ww2. oil wars to keep production high and gas prices low, well, depends on how the individual fighting feels, if there are patriots working on oil alternatives and consumers willing to buy EVs so we won't need oil wars, that's a better way to be a patriot. But sometimes war has to be fought strategically for the benefit of other nations, not our own directly.
