Why don't we just: try and become less dependent on a country that systematically imprisons ethnic minorities and abuses them (I mean China, not the USA. The US comes a little later and should be easier to fix)

More of an emphasis could be put on tax breaks for people who farm and print things that would be cheaper to do in china; it would take a good couple of decades.
Agreed. Carbon saved, American (non-child or convict labor) jobs created, hopefully with accompanying technological innovations -- good stuff, but big changes.
