Upvotes simply because any meme with HIPAA satisfies the nerd in me
And yeah, this law and others (anti-discrimination laws, etc.) present pretty big hurdles to any vaccine passport type scheme. However, HIPAA and those other laws weren’t written with a pandemic world in mind. A lot of things about our world weren’t built with a pandemic in mind. Still, we adjusted and adapted because it was a matter of life and death. That’s what we ought to do as intelligent life forms when confronted with such threats.
Should we blindly adhere to them because “that’s the way we’ve always done it,” or revise them in this one narrow respect to better suit our current times?
