John Flamsteed created a catalog of stars back in the early 1700s. In 1712, Isaac Newton and Edward Halley acquired his incomplete catalog and published 400 copies of it. Flamsteed then gathered 300 copies of the pirated, incomplete catalogs, and burned them.
