No, i don't think so, ask the crew from Apollo 5 or Apollo 13 or the ESA p.e. Ariane 1 or Orion.

At least yours doesn't looks like the challenger withouth a huge amount of "disassembled" parts.

This is the shuttle without its SRBs and external tank. This is the stage where it acts as the flying brick. In this situation, they all looked pretty much the same as they were operating and not disintegrating or burning up on reentry. I do differentiate between the two.

Yes, i understood what you meant. The tank you mentioned was planned as "to be lost".
One usually doesn'T changes a well proven design until it changes itself. lol
