Yeah, I'm just mildly confused. Do you cook the can too?

The chicken sits on top of the open can while it cooks, so yes, sort of. It's a very common way to cook chicken around where I live. It steams the chicken from the inside, and the chicken sitting up like that causes better juice retention. Makes for a very juicy and succulent chicken, and it's easy to do. One of my favorite ways to cook it actually.

That actually makes sense and sounds very effective

Try it sometime, there are tons of recipes on google for it. Essentially, just season the chicken however you want, sit it on a half empty beer can (or you can use soda, that works too) and cook it on indirect heat till it's done. That's oversimplified but it doesn't get much more complicated than that!

Not gonna lie, I'd eat some meat cooked right on the fire like these guys used to...actually always wanted to try it, there's lots of videos out there showing how to do it and it looks amazing.

Yeah I said that it's popular in my area, but I'm sure it goes much further than just here...I just honestly don't know where it stops being popular! I can't imagine it wouldn't be popular anywhere that actually bothered to cook it that way, it's just so easy and so stinkin' good.
