I'm cisgender but I probably wouldn't care. Hell I don't care whenever someone calls me she even though I'm male.

Of course not!!! It is just a dumb word after all!! They could call me Dave for all I care!!! I have personal resentment of my first name due to me changing it for a good REASON. But A stupid pronoun isn't even a name, It's just a descriptor Lol

Why would you be offended by a pronoun? It is just a word.

I'm cis but I've been cisgendered alot. though only online since I have short hair in my avatars because I just really want a males haircut. It used to make me feel angry because they knew but now I just cringe at them

Because I am a human being and I suffer from a lot of dysphoria and f**king hell, I want respect

That is understandable. I guess my real question is if you would ever act violently towards a person who did this? I mean physical or verbal engagement that would normally be publicly frowned upon.

Definitely would get me talking

That is a bit disappointing but I guess it seems to be a common response. Most people aren't as passive I am. That is just something I must learn to expect.

That seems like a reasonable response I suppose. It is less irrational and angry than what I've heard some people say.

Why are you so upset? I apologize if I offended you. I have a bad habit of coming across rude or apathetic without meaning to do so.

A. You called what I said Transphobic even though it was not, You simply took it that way.

B. How would I feel? irritated which as I said is fine. I would ask them to stop. And if they did not I would ignore them. No outrage or violence. It would not be because I was offended, however. It would be because I was not interested and found them pestering me to be a disturbance. Being accepted makes me feel fantastic yes. But not being accepted does not hurt me.

So I would not be outraged like some of the people I have met who will start actual fights because of their pronouns.

I SIMPLY SAID THAT STATMENT WAS NEVER OR YOUR OPINION

I will warn you now. Do not call my opinion Transphobic. Do not put that word on me ever. Whether you think so or not I am NOT transphobic. I heavily advise you do not ever throw that word at me ever again.

Now second of all. it is not the word that angers them. It is the way they handle it. I have been called by the wrong pronouns my entire life. When a cisgender is misgendered they do not become enraged normally even when it is meant as an insult. It is the person's inability to be happy with themself that makes them angry. The pronoun plays the part of the bullet but it's the person's fault for turning a water gun into a sniper rifle. Tell me. Why should someone call you She simply because you say so? Is it that person's job to cater to your happiness? Yes, it may be very rude for them to ignore your preference but it seems absolutely overdramatic to become enraged simply because people refuse to call you something. You gave the word power to hurt you. Why should the other person pay for that? And what makes them such a horrible person for not doing as you ask? If someone saved people's lives they would be considered a hero until they spoke their opinion and said they did not support transgender people. That person would immediately be frowned upon no matter how many people they saved. I know this because I've seen soldiers spit on and screamed at for their opinions and they weren't even pushing the opinion, they were just casually stating it.

Why should it be socially acceptable for a person to become enraged simply because someone refused to call them by a certain pronoun? And when has their anger went too far? Because if I misgendered a person and was beaten for it I have a feeling everyone would approve. I would still be the bad guy even though I was injured and all the other person got was emotionally moved.

Of course, being offended is okay. But why would you ever let it offend you? Why give something that much power over your mind and emotions? It is okay to be angry but why do we give people the right to scream about it publicly and start fights?

Being annoyed is okay. That is part of being human. But being so moved that you cause an uproar "Seems like a bit much" as my friend would say.

a. i never said you were transphobic
b. how would you feel if someone knowing that your ace or aro kept on bugging you purposly trying to have you go out with them

It is not who they are. They only perceive it that way. But your sexual reproductive system, Hormones, Dysphoria(Or other disorders), Ethnicity, and background do not make you. The kind of human you are makes you. Your culture, Belief, Religion, Behaviour, and Goals make you. A simple pronoun could never define a person. It is simply not important or "Good" enough to define a person. it does not give the person a personality or change the way they should be treated. It is a mere word in my eyes. But of course, if a person wishes to be defined in a way they have a right to such. It is possible I simply do not understand.

It is not who they are. They only perceive it that way. that right there is a very transphobic statment you could have put:It is not who they are. your sexual reproductive system, Hormones, Dysphoria(Or other disorders), Ethnicity, and background do not make you. The kind of human you are makes you. Your culture, Belief, Religion, Behaviour, and Goals make you. A simple pronoun could never define a person. But of course, if a person wishes to be defined in a way they have a right to such. It is possible I simply do not understand. but anyways all you says is correct but here is the thing i never said thats the only thing they are a single pronoun cant define a person but it can change a persons BEHAVIOUR they are born a male they dont want to be male the get called he him it mekes her mad then she grows up to be a mad person

0 ups, 5y,

No. Violence has very rarely made problems better. If the were doing it to be annoying I would tell them to stop but worst case I tell an adult figure with power, if there is none that means no one is keeping me here so I would just leave.

And why would they ignoring your wants bother you? Is it that person's occupation or role to cater to your happiness? Why would something as small as a word affect your life? Why would that person be required to call you by that pronoun? Why should they have to bend their tongue for your wishes? What have you done to deserve that person's respect? have you ever helped them? Is there any reason for them to listen to you or obey you?

I do not mean to sound rude. I am simply trying to learn the reason this upsets people. As an Agender person, Pronouns have never mattered to me. I simply prefer it. And I don't mind calling someone else their preferred pronouns. But I have found myself wondering why so many people get so emotionally moved over mere words.

It's merely a respect thing. How my life works are that I bust my ass to be something to people because I am usually nothing. My pronouns are one of the few things that give me identity not only to others but to myself.

Yes, I get emotional if I get dead named or misgendered and I'm at peace with that.

All I want is to be something.

Correct, as I said it gives me an identity when I am no-one.

That is an interesting view of an English word. But you are clearly a living creature. So why would you feel as though you are nobody? Do you mean unimportant or trapped? why do you need a word to feel better about your existence? You are very clearly a decent human being. So why tie yourself to a word?
0 ups, 5y,
1 reply
When things change dramatically I feel trapped in a loop. The only thing that stays the same is my identity. When I am misgendered how-ever I feel I have lost it and feel like no-one.

Well, you might only feel trapped because you have bound yourself. I never feel any sadness unless there are very extreme things such as physical pain or death in my family. I do not feel affected by the Virus or my School or other people. I have accepted that I have no control and that I cannot win. Once you let go of those things. Identity, Physical objects, Mistakes, Imperfection, Anger. You no longer need an Identity. You feel you are meaningful. You understand that a label does not make you who you are. You should not let words or objects move your emotional state.

But of course. We can agree to disagree.

I will agree to disagree.
