Both of my parents were born (1940’s) and raised in post WW2 communist Poland. Where they got meat rationing coupons. Stood in lines for bread and potatoes. Suffered through hyperinflation. Strict curfews. Marshal law. Had medical care at least 20 years behind the west. Were taught Russian in school. Where they couldn’t leave the country. Where the government would kidnap you for dissent or protest. Had people listening in on their phone calls and opening their mail. Where they read and heard “news” via government owned propaganda machines. Television with 2 channels; both government owned. Yes, that radical anti-communist, Joesph McCarthy. What an asshole for wanting to prevent all of that from happening here.

Radical about it? Like burning buildings and looting businesses and tearing down statues? It’s easy to judge, in 2021, while you sit atop your ivory tower.

Yep, the one who ruined people's lives and careers because they had (or were suspected of having) the wrong opinions, or because they said the wrong things.

And adult males who liked My Little Pony style content were “honey trapped”. Google it. Secret police would either kill you or blackmail you. And when you’re done with that, google “Operation Hyacinth” to see what they did to gay men under communism.
