Plants don’t know they’re alive tho.
Also, some people do go that far. They’re called fruitarians. They only eat fruit that falls off the trees. As you can imagine, they don’t live that long.

I mean, plants may have some slight awareness of being alive, but not in any kind of sentience or noticable mobility. How we define sentience is what matters.
