You think tik tok was bad? well i got a whole new story for you. Some guy on Reddit reversed the tik tok app, and he found some crazy sh#t. tik tok steals so much data this is just some of it:
They can track:
-Phone hardware (CPU type, hardware id's, screen dimensions, dpi, memory usage, disk space, ETC..)
-Data from other apps you have installed, even deleted ones show up in their analytics payload
-Everything network related ( ip, local ip, router mac (Media Access Control address) your mac (Media Access Control adress), wifi access point data
-doesn't matter if your device is rooted or jailbroken
-Some variants of the app had Gps pinging, which pinged about every 30 seconds, this was enabled by default.
-they set up a local proxy server on your device for "transcoding media", but it can be abused as it has no authentication.
- and perhaps the scariest part: Much of the logging they are doing is remotely configurable
-They have several protections to prevent you from reversing or debugging the app , app behaviour changes once they know you are trying to change something or figure out what they are doing. Theres also a few snipets of code on the android version that will allow for the downloading of a remote zip file, extracting it and executing it. a mobile app has no reason ever to need this functionality
And there is SO MUCH MORE... just take one lesson from this... dont f**king use tik tok, and dont trust apps like tik tok.. In these times staying safe online and keeping your privacy protected is important, dont download random shit, and dont trust useless f**king apps like tik tok that server no purpouse.
