They already knew they weren't going to have the votes. They had to go through with it though to get it on record what Trump did. It's always going to be on the official record, all of his crimes that day, how he led his supporters to pull a coup on the capitol building. He's not going to be able to sleaze his way out of it or lie or pretend or deny. We all know what happened and we always will know what he did.

Your current vice president is on record supporting 6 months of bloody riots and leftist terrorism. She literally bailed rioters outta jail who immediately went back out and did it again. If calling for peaceful protests is inciting an insurrection (which it isn't,) then half of the Democrats in Washington would be in jail right now for supporting communist looting and burning.
So climb down off that soap box or travel back in time to the summer and cry for Kamala Harris to be arrested for inciting violence. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
