The first amendment is NOT the right to insult. All it does is prevent the GOVERNMENT to sue your for your opinion, so you can safely disagree with them, something a dictatorship does not allow. It does NOT cover personal offenses, and unfortunately that's a fact.
Funny part is that most people who bring the 1st amendment up, or similar articles in constitutions of other countries for that matter, were already trying to silence other people offending their own views of that amendment anyway, which is pretty ironic from the start.
