What I have against it is, everybody can see those reports, and I think only staff members should be able to see those reports. Especially when people are being reported for the wrong reason or when people are claiming to be the victim in a fight they began themselves. It's for a reason that memes in which people are named and shamed are not allowed.

Hm makes sense, but I wish there was an easier way to report users. I’ve had to deal with a lot of trolls on my own recently

All we got is the flag, but mostly only stream moderators handle that. When memes and comments are really against the global TOS of IMGFlip and should even lead to account removals I agree it must be easier to reach the site staff...

I had a problem with a troll bullying away a user from imgflip, it took me several hours to get a mod and by then the user was gone

Yeah, that can sometimes be an issue. Of course, the staff is not always on-line, as those people have a life outside of IMGFlip too. Bullying people away from a site should indeed never be tolerated, and whenever I see that I always notify the site staff immediately. I guess I am a bit blessed with having a site mod as a "friend" (as far as you can speak of "friendship" over the internet) so my lines can be short, however even then it can sometimes take awhile.

People who try to bully others away is not something for a stream moderator to act upon if you ask me, but for the main staff. And these bullies are also the reason why a report list should never be public. Those bullies would abuse it and display the ones they want out for the whole world to see...

True, I guess that makes sense. I respect they have a life outside of imgflip but I feel like at least one is online usually, but when dealing with a toxic user I often don’t have the time to check which mods are online

I know... Now I have a nice idea for a stream, but I think I must discuss it with my friends in the staff before I make it happen.

What’s the idea?

A stream were memes never get featured, but where site mods will see the stuff anyway and can even respond to you. Rejection of a meme posted there would then not mean your report is rejected, but that the case is closed. As the memes never get featured things are then kept a bit more secretive there. Although it's not waterproof (as people who have the link to a report can also see it then), and that's why I want the staff to think about this first.

Interesting idea, I have a group of people who can investigate others and we keep the evidence on unfeatured images for the mods to see
1 up, 3y
Yeah, well I must note this is only for violations of the TOS. Violations of stream rules should still be done by the stream mods accordingly.

I deal with violations of stream rules personally, it’s the violations of ToS that bother me the msot
1 up, 3y
Me too, and there it can be hard to reach the site mods. Now you can reach them also through slack and discord. This could also be good to know... I will have to see if I'm allowed to throw around invites.

There is a way to reach them through discord? That would be very helpful

There should just be a report user button.

The "flag" link serves for that, but you only reach the stream owners/moderators with that and not the site staff.

I’m usually the stream owner/moderater

If you look then in "My Streams" you can see what people flagged in the streams you moderate. Now I have the feeling people are not really aware of what the "flag" link does, as in the streams I moderate myself (and there are a few very sensitive ones among them) I rarely see tagged stuff...

Yeah, I wish people would flag comments more often. It would make it easier for me

Same goes for me... I did find a few comments of a long time ago that should have been deleted, but never happened because I never saw them and nobody flagged them... People really should know how to flag stuff..

Maybe they should add some more site or community mods
1 up, 3y
Maybe, but admins are always reluctant with adding moderators for good reasons. Being a former admin myself (of a site no longer running) I know it's very hard to keep a large group of moderators in track, and also who to trust to be fit for the task. That's always a bit of a nasty issue.

I think people are aware of the flag feature but don’t use it, on the main streams the mods don’t act quickly since there aren’t a lot of them, but on smaller streams we act pretty quickly
1 up, 3y
Yup, in the moderators defense. if you knew what site mods have to oversee, that's quite a lot. But indeed on smaller streams where moderators have less to do, using the flag feature could definitely help.

Of course, there are a few streams in which I'm the only active moderator, and I do have a life outside imgflip, not to mention that I live in Europe (Netherlands to be exact) and then time zones also come into play.
